If the countryside feeling you get when visiting Franklin County does not do the trick for you, there are a lot of festivals and fun events you can take part in almost anytime during the year. The Tar River Festival is by far the most popular festival in Louisburg, which is held each year on the third Saturday in September. Visitors can choose form numerous fun activities, such as rides and enjoy the food, the vendors, and the great music that keeps on playing all day long! On the campus of Louisburg College one can join the International Whistlers Convention, where whistlers from all over the world gather to compete. If these are just not enough for you, then you can visit the Pilot City Limits, Pilot Rodeo, Fall Festival in Youngsville, or the Fun in the Sun Festival in Franklinton. Not to speak about the Fireman's Day at local fire departments, a 4th of July Celebration, Strawberry Festival, Youngsville Tractor and Truck Pull, and Holiday Parades. And these are just a few of the events that take place each year in Franklin County! The Louisburg College Auditorium is the place where many pretty popular names in the music industry also make their stop in Franklin County for exciting performances. At about 10 minutes away from Louisburg visitors can see the Laurel Mill. The person who bought the mill from its previous owners does not make anything to keep it in a good condition. It used to have a spinning wheel underneath it that turned whenever water was flowing through it. But now, the new owners have allowed the rusting wheel to fall and hang, the water retaining wall stayed busted for years, and they seem to pay no mind to the old boards that are being washed away from the building during high waters or hurricanes. This mill should not become a victim of the creek. The history it holds must save it! This all must have convinced you to come and visit these beautiful places. There are so many things to see, so many fun events to join and so many nice people to meet. Franklin County has many more hidden treasures for visitors to discover during their journeys. It would be a real shame to waste such an opportunity of breathing the fresh air of the land! So pack up and you won’t be sorry!
